Student Success Mentoring (60 Minutes)
Student Success Mentoring helps adolescents and young adults through age 22 build confidence, practical skills, and greater independence. Each 60-minute private Zoom session focuses on goals that matter to the student and family.
Support may include organization, time management, task initiation, self-advocacy, communication, problem-solving, and planning for school, work, and life after high school.
Financial Literacy and Independent Living Skills
Financial literacy is a clear component of mentoring when it fits the student’s goals. Through sample budgets, fictional paychecks, everyday purchasing decisions, and guided practice, students can learn to understand earnings, plan spending and savings, compare prices, explore banking and credit basics, recognize scams, and ask questions before making financial commitments.
Instruction is tailored to the student’s strengths, learning needs, and level of independence. Visual supports, plain language, calculators, and repeated practice can make learning more accessible, including for students who have received special education services.
What’s included
• 60-minute private Zoom mentoring session
• Individualized goal setting and practical skill-building
• Executive functioning and organizational strategies
• Self-advocacy and communication practice
• Financial literacy and independent living activities aligned with student goals
• Academic, career, and transition planning support
• Parent summary with key discussion points and recommendations, as appropriate
• Follow-up recommendations for continued growth
Mentoring provides educational support. It is not psychotherapy or a substitute for mental health treatment. Financial literacy activities provide general education; individualized investment, tax, and legal advice are outside this service.
Not sure where to begin? Schedule a complimentary Discovery Consultation to discuss your student’s goals and determine whether mentoring is a good fit.
